What is the difference between Shellac and gel nails?

CND Shellac is a hybrid gel-polish system—it combines the ease of polish with the performance of gel. It applies like traditional nail lacquer but requires UV/LED curing, offering a high-gloss finish with zero dry time. In contrast, traditional gel nails are made entirely of gel and often require buffing for removal, which can be harsher on the nail plate.

Shellac is easier to remove, usually within 5–10 minutes using acetone wraps, and is considered gentler on natural nails.
